Texas Wildcatters News Release
Beaumont, TX (September 25, 2006) Texas Wildcatters co-owner and managing partner Rick Adams announced today that R. Quincy Bird has joined the Wildcatters staff as the Promotional Operations Manager. Bird will handle the production and execution of game day operations and entertainment. He will also contribute to corporate and group sales.
"Quincy will be a definite asset to our team as he heads the game promotions and operations for the Texas Wildcatters," said General Manager Jennifer Nguyen. "With his experience and passion for the sport, he will bring a new level of excitement to each and every game this season."
Bird comes to the Wildcatters from the Peninsula Oilers of the Alaska Baseball League, an elite collegiate summer league, where he was employed as the Promotions and Marketing Coordinator. Prior to working for the Oilers, Bird taught and coached at St. Petersburg Catholic High School in St. Petersburg, FL. He is anxious to get the season started and have hockey back in Southeast Texas.
"It's exciting to be working for an organization that is so dedicated to bringing the game of hockey to its community," said Bird. "As resilient as this area has been since Rita, combined with the commitment the organization has shown to Southeast Texas, I can't imagine how this could be anything but a banner year for us."
Bird's focus with the team will be fan entertainment and promotions to compliment the on-ice action. "Rick [Adams] told me when he hired me that it's my job to make 'Catters games fun to go to. I can't imagine a job more enjoyable and one that I am more confident in doing. Who doesn't want to have fun at a hockey game?"
Bird was born and raised in Kenai, Alaska. He graduated as a University Scholar from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. in 2005 with a degree in English. A four-year starter on the CUA hockey team, Bird captained the team in 2004.
The new-look Wildcatters open their third season on October 20 at Florida, before returning to Ford Arena for their home opener on Saturday, October 28 against the Pensacola Ice Pilots at 7:05pm.
