NORTH CHARLESTON, The South Carolina Stingrays, proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals, will host their annual alumni game in support of former player Adam Calder on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. The event will serve as a lead-in to the team's 2016-17 opener against the Greenville Swamp Rabbits on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.

The team will welcome some new and familiar faces, including Hall of Fame members Trevor Johnson, Matt Scherer, Nate Kiser, Dave Seitz, Brett Marietti and Jason Fitzsimmon, who will all suit up for the annual contest. All players in the game will wear Calder's No. 25 jersey.

The teams will be coached by former Stingrays' forward Brendan Concannon (1998-2002) and Pete Armbrust (2002-03). Armbrust was Calder's teammate at the University of North Dakota from 1996-1999.

Other Rays in attendance will include 2001 Kelly Cup Champions Chris Wheaton, Damian Prescott, Adam Calder, Brad Williamson, Jodi Lehmen and 2009 Kelly Cup Champions Pierre Luc O'Brien, Johann Kroll, Scott Romfo and Hugo Marchand.

"It's always great to get the alumni players back together for this weekend to catch up and relive the glory days," said Stingrays President Rob Concannon. "This year is a very special game as we are rallying behind our friend and teammate Adam Calder who needs our support."

Calder played for the Rays during four seasons from 1999-2003 and was a member of the 2001 Kelly Cup Championship team. The forward suited up for a total of 279 games with South Carolina, scoring 309 points (117 goals, 192 assists). During the postseason run to the cup in 2001, Calder had seven goals and 12 assists for 19 points in 17 games.

A native of Portage la Prairie, Man., Calder played at North Dakota from 1995-1999, helping to win a NCAA National Championship in the spring of 1997. He then went on to have a 14-year career in professional hockey, playing for the Stingrays, Rochester Americans (AHL), Milwaukee Admirals (IHL), Norfolk Admirals (AHL), Wichita Thunder (CHL), Coventry Blaze (EIHL), Vaxjo HC (Swe-1), Slough Jets (EPL) and Milton Keynes Lightning (EPL).
