Colorado Eagles News Release
Windsor, CO- The Colorado Eagles, proud affiliate of the Colorado Avalanche, announced Tuesday that forward Johnny Lazo has been placed on injured reserve after suffering a fractured femur during a practice session on Monday at the Budweiser Events Center. The 5-foot-6, 170-pound center posted a goal and an assist in the first two games of the 2016-17 season against the Rapid City Rush last weekend.
"What happened to Johnny was so unfortunate to see," said Eagles general manager Chris Stewart. "It was a wrong place, wrong time scenario and now we shift our focus to ensuring that Johnny has the absolute best care during his recovery process. With that in mind, we would like to thank our tremendous medical partners who assisted, including Thompson Valley EMS, who stabilized Johnny on the ice and transported him to the hospital, as well as the incredible doctors and staff at Orthopaedic and Spine Center of the Rockies and UCHealth who coordinated and provided a quick and very successful surgery at Medical Center of the Rockies."
The Winnipeg, Manitoba native burst onto the scene as a rookie last season, posting 21 goals and 15 assists in just 34 games with Colorado. Lazo would go on to be named the ECHL's Rookie of the Month in January after scoring nine goals in his first nine games as an Eagle. In addition, his shooting percentage of 21.9% led all ECHL rookies during the 2015-16 season and was good for 3rd in the ECHL, overall.
Season tickets for the 2016-17 season are on-sale now and can be reserved with a $50 deposit per seat by calling the Eagles ticket office at 970-686-SHOT (7468). A complete schedule can be found at www.ColoradoEagles.com.
