
Wizardry from Paterson in 5-0 Walleye Win

Cincinnati, OH - Jake Paterson turned aside 39 Cyclones shots as the Walleye picked up a 5-0 win Tuesday night in Cincinnati. Toledo has a season record of 2-1-0-0 and is 2-1-0-0 on the road. Both teams traded really good chances in the first period of play but Jake Paterson for the Walleye and Mark Visentin for Cincinnati were outstanding between the pipes with each turning aside nine shots. Toledo collected the lead just 54 seconds into the second period when defenseman Jacob MacDonald grabbed a rebound and backhanded it into the Cincinnati net. Tylor Spink and Beau Schmitz drew the assists on MacDonald's first with the Walleye. A strong third period started when Kyle Bonis found Alden Hirschfeld for a breakaway and he picked his second goal of the season at 4:56 of the third period. Hirschfeld set up Kyle Bonis (4th) to push the lead to 3-0 at 7:28 of the period. Bonis wristed home his second of the game at 11:50 for a 4-0 advantage. Tyler Sikura picked up his first goal of the season with seven seconds left in the period. Walleye Notes : Goaltender Jake Paterson picked up his first shutout of the season stopping all 39 shots he faced and has a record of 1-1-0-0 on the season. Cincinnati out shot Toledo 39-31 in the game.
