Cyclones Drop Midweek Affair against In-State Rivals

Cincinnati, OH- The Cincinnati Cyclones (0-3-0-0) fell to the Toledo Walleye, 5-0, on Tuesday night. It marked the first shutout for the Cyclones since March 9, 2015.

After a scoreless first period, the Walleye drew first blood early in the first when defenseman Jacob MacDonald netted his first of the season to give Toledo a 1-0 lead.

Cincinnati turned on the offensive pressure in the second, outshooting the walleye 17-12 in the frame, and getting a number of Grade-A scoring chances. Toledo netminder Jake Patterson was up to the task however, and stopped all 17 to preserve the Walleye's 1-0 lead through two periods.

The Walleye turned up the offense in the third, as forward Alden Hirschfeld gave Toledo a 2-0 lead 4:56 into the final frame.

Toledo received a pair from forward Kyle Bonis midway through the third, and forward Tyler Sikura capped off the big night late in the frame to complete Toledo's 5-0 win. Patterson was perfect on the night, stopping all 39 shots he faced to earn the win.

Cincinnati wraps up their three-game homestand on Saturday against the Wheeling Nailers. Faceoff is scheduled for 7:35pm ET.
