North Charleston, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays fell to the Gwinnett Gladiators 3-1 in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals at the North Charleston Coliseum Wednesday evening. The Stingrays trail the best-of-seven series 3-0.
The Gladiators opened the scoring on the power play with a tally from forward Evan Bloodoff at 9:24 of the first period lifting a shot over the glove of Stingrays goaltender Ryan Zapolski (L, 31 saves on 33 shots) from the top of the right-wing circle.
Stingrays defenseman Scooter Vaughan tied the contest on the man advantage at the 12:00 mark of the second period blasting a shot past the left pad of Gladiators netminder Louis Domingue (W, 28 saves on 29 shots) from the point. Forward Robby Dee and defenseman Derek Foam added assists. After being outshot 16-3 in the opening period, the Stingrays retaliated with an 18 to nine shot performance in the middle frame.
