
Royals Drop Game Three in Greenville, 4-2

Greenville, SC- The Reading Royals of the, affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League and the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League, were defeated in Game Three of the best-of-seven Eastern Conference Quarterfinal matchup the Greenville Road Warriors, 4-2, at BI-LO Center in Greenville, South Carolina. The Royals now lead the series two games to one.
Greenville struck first 9:03 into the first period. Brandon Wong won an offensive zone faceoff to the high slot where Sebastien Piche stepped in and fired a low show that snuck through goaltender Mark Owuya (0-1-0, 16/19, 1 eng) to give the Road Warriors their first lead of the playoff series. Greenville gained the two goal advantage with 24.56 seconds left in the second period, when the puck slipped by defender Mark Mitera at right wing point, giving Jason Wilson a break down the left wing side into the offensive zone. Wilson snuck it through on the short side off the right arm of Mitera for his first of the playoff season.
The Road Warriors took a 3-0 5:48 into the third on a rebound by Danny Hobbs from in tight at the left side of the crease. Reading battled back to draw within one with carbon copy blasts out of the right circle-both by Brett Flemming 10:03 and 13:00 into the final period. Reading pressed hard down the stretch, but the Road Warriors and goaltender Connor Knapp (1-2-0, 37/39), who made several spectacular stops to pick up his first playoff win. Jordie Johnston iced things with an empty netter 18:38 into the third.
The Royals and Road Warriors face off in Game Four of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals on Wednesday (April 11 @7:00 pm) at BI-LO Center in Greenville, South Carolina. Thursday's game night broadcast on CBS Sports Radio 1240 am and 98.5 fm will kick off with the pre-game warm-up show presented by Steve Moyer Subaru at 6:30 pm.
