Atlanta Gladiators News Release

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. - Justin Weller put Gwinnett ahead early in the third, and the Gladiators held on to win Game Three of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series with the South Carolina Stingrays 3-1 Wednesday night at North Charleston Coliseum.

Gwinnett now has a commanding 3-0 series lead, and can wrap up the series Friday night at 7:05 p.m in North Charleston.

Weller fired a low shot from the mid point that ricocheted off South Carolina defenseman Damon Kipp's skate and into the net. Casey Pierro-Zabotel and Ryan Ginand assisted on Weller's first career pro playoff goal, and Louis Domingue would take over from there on out.

The Coyotes goaltending prospect turned aside 28 of 29 shots and made several keys stops late, as Ryan Ginand added an empty-netter inside the final 30 seconds to cement the 3-1 win.

Ginand finished with a goal and an assist, and Pierro-Zabotel added two assists of his own.

Gwinnett dominated the opening 20 minutes, outshooting the Stingrays 16-3 and scoring the lone goal of the stanza on the man advantage. Coyotes prospect Evan Bloodoff rifled a shot from the slot through a screen over the left shoulder of Zapolski at 9:24 to put the Gladiators ahead. Ryan Ginand and Casey Pierro-Zabotel provided the helpers.

South Carolina bounced back in the second to draw even. A Scooter Vaughn point shot found its way past Domingue 12 minutes into the period on the power play, as the Rays outshot Gwinnett in the middle period 18-9.

Ryan Zapolski made 31 saves in a losing cause for the Stingrays, with Gwinnett finishing 2-for-5 on the power play with the Rays going 1-for-5.
