Willmar Stingers News Release
MANKATO, Minn. - The Stingers fell in an early hole to Mankato on Wednesday night and couldn't overcome that deficit in a 14-1 loss at Franklin Rogers Park.
The MoonDogs (10-5) hit back-to-back home run in the bottom of the first inning, and didn't look back the rest of the way to top the Stingers (6-9).
The Stingers got their lone run in the eighth inning thanks to an RBI double by Quincy McAfee. McAfee, who is coming off his senior year of high school, now has seven RBIs for the season, second most on the club.
Gage Hutchinson (Daytona State) made his third start of the year for the Stingers and gave up three runs on seven hits in four innings of work.
Willmar returns home on Thursday night for the first of two games against Thunder Bay. Thursday night is Willmar Community Recreation Youth Baseball and Softball Night presented by Burlington Northern and Sante Fe Railway.
