Sting Stymied in Peterborough

Peterborough, ON - Despite directing 42 shots towards Petes goaltender Matthew Mancina, the Sarnia Sting fell by a score of 3-1 at the Peterborough Memorial Centre on Thursday night.

Justin Fazio turned aside 28 of 31 between the pipes for the Sting tonight, including 14 in a scoreless opening frame.

Just 1:01 into the second period, sophomore forward Anthony Salinitri opened the scoring for the Sting, banging home a rebound on the doorstep. Linemate, Jordan Kyou, and defenceman, Josh Jacobs, assisted on Salinitri's 5th of the season.

Midway through the period, Hunter Garlent's wrister found the short-side, tying the game up at 1's.

After killing off consecutive penalty's late in the 2nd, Zacha was sent to the box and the Sting were back to the penalty kill. Matt Spencer found Adam Timleck on the powerplay to put the Petes up 2-1.

Steven Loretz scored at 9:50 of the final stanza to put the Petes up by two. The Sting fired 18 shots on Mancina in the third, but the Petes goaltender gave up nothing.

The Sting are back in action tomorrow night in Ottawa when they take on the 67's in their annual DIFD game. Then, on Sunday, the Sting close out the Eastern road trip with a 2PM game in Kingston.
