Sarnia Sting News Release

SARNIA, ON - Sarnia Sting GM, Nick Sinclair announced that the Hockey Club has completed a trade with the Oshawa Generals wherein the Sting have added overage LW, Matt Mistele. In exchange, the Generals will receive Niagara's 2nd round pick in 2016, Sault Ste. Marie's 3rd round pick in 2017, and Sarnia's 3rd round pick in 2018.

Mistele, who was originally selected 33rd overall by the Plymouth Whalers in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection, is currently playing in his 5th Ontario Hockey League campaign. Through 19 games with the Generals this season, Mistele has registered 8G, 8A for a total of 16 points.

The LA Kings' draft-pick (6th RND, 2014) started the 2014-15 season with the Plymouth Whalers, before being dealt to the Generals at the deadline. Between the two clubs, Mistele tallied a career-high 64 points in 60 regular season games before going on to win a Memorial Cup Championship with the Generals.

Sting General Manager, Nick Sinclair comments on the addition, "As an organization, we're excited to welcome Matt and his family to the Sarnia Sting organization. We feel as though he will be a great addition to our club, bringing a wealth experience to our dressing room. We're adding a guy who's played over 200 games in this league, won a Memorial Cup Championship, and is a proven 35+ goal scorer."

Mistele will join the Sting when they return to the SSEC this weekend as the Club plays host to the visiting North Bay Battalion on Friday night and the Ottawa 67's on Sunday at 2PM in the 18th Annual Teddy Bear Toss Game.
