December 1, 2015 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Guelph Storm News Release

The Guelph Storm and Coach4Food have joined together again this year to "Shutout Hunger". We are asking you to be part of our team to help alleviate hunger in our community. Coach4Food works with children's, youth and amateur hockey teams to raise food and funds for your local food bank - Guelph Food Bank.

The Guelph Food Bank (GFB) will be challenging local minor hockey teams to participate and help feed their communities. The program will run from November 16th to December 13th , 2015.

It will be open to all children's, youth and amateur hockey teams in the Guelph area.  The team that brings in the most amount of food will win a chance to practice with the Storm coaches.

Last year 11 teams created a new Guelph record by collecting food & funds totaling

24,761 lbs.  Again this year the Guelph Storm has agreed to provide team recognition and ice time with the one team who collects the most food & funds.

In order for the program to run smoothly, we are asking teams to follow the below guidelines.

- Teams must register with the GFB in advance of collecting donations

-  Weigh in' time with the GFB must be booked in advance. Due to the many teams participating teams are restricted to two drop-offs. Be sure you book your drop off day/time prior to the cut off day.

- Food must be dropped off as a team (players & coaches), at least one of the two drop offs.

- $1.00 monetary donation is the equivalent of 1.5 lbs of food. Monetary donations can be receipted in amounts over $5.00. A log sheet for monetary donations is provided. Please have a parent/manager/designate record the donations on the log sheet. All monetary donations are to be put into a sealed envelope with the full team name, contact and the donation log sheet. Give the donation envelope directly to GFB Staff when dropping off your food donations on your scheduled day & time.
