Steward To Serve It Up
July 29, 2004 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release
Big "D" may be about three hours south of Tulsa, so the Tulsa Oilers have brought in Little "D." Today the Oilers inked 5'5" Forward Dallas Steward.
"Don't judge Dallas on his size... his heart is as big as his namesake. He really is in the Martin St. Louis mold, he can find plenty of places to hide on the ice and can be as physical as anyone," coming from Oilers coach Butch Kaebel.
A product of the University of Anchorage-Alaska, his experience, according to Kaebel, is already beyond many players his age, "He's produced and proven himself in a top college league. He can really do everything too; he can score goals, he can win 50-50 pucks... puck possession will be a big part of our team this season."
As the assistant-team captain with the Sea Wolves, Steward had 59 points (27g, 32a) in four years. He ranks ninth on UAA's games played list. Before playing collegiately, he played three seasons in the USHL with the Green Bay Gamblers, making the playoffs all three years.
