San Angelo Saints News Release
San Angelo, TXâThe San Angelo Saints continue building another winning team for the 2004-05 season and keep active in the community during the summer.
The Saints continued their volunteer efforts in the Concho Valley this month by delivering meals for Meals for the Elderly and attending the Shannon Kid's Chemo Clinic. John Jarram and former Saints defenseman Corri Moffat spent time with Halo at the 16th Annual Ford Mustang Roundup at Jim Bass Ford on July 10.
Later this month, the Saints will help celebrate Conexion Hispana's second anniversary on Friday, July 30. The festivities commence at 5:00 p.m. on Twohig St. between Irving and Chadbourne streets. Head Coach Ray Edwards will take his chances in the dunking booth at Hispanorama's Annual Summer Fest at the San Angelo Riverstage on Saturday, July 31. August kicks off with National Kid's Day at the Riverstage from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Halo will entertain the crowd and the Saints inflatable hockey shot will be set up.
Assistant Coach Derek Booth has decided to move on in his career, and unfortunately that means he will be leaving San Angelo. Moving from an on-ice player to front office staff brought many changes for the All-Star defenseman. "This was strictly a financial move. Derek is a father of three and he has to do what is best for his family," said Edwards. "We hate to see him go, but we all wish him the very best."
The Saints are excited to announce the hire of new equipment manager Corby Antropik for the 2004-05 season. Antropik, a 23-year old native of Fort Worth, Texas, comes to the Saints after serving as assistant equipment manager with the Texas Tornados of the NAHL. Originally from Rhode Island, Antropik wanted to stay involved in hockey once his family made the move to Texas, but there were few playing opportunities. Instead, at age 14 he started assisting at games with the equipment, and his career has grown from there.
As equipment manager for the Saints, Antropik's primary responisbilites include ordering and repairing everything from sticks and skates to the players uniforms. He is also responisble for sharpening skates, making travel arrangements and scheduling practice times.
