Sterling, RiverKings shut out Mudbugs, 3-0

Larry Sterling made 29 saves to backstop the Mississippi RiverKings over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs 3-0 on Friday at CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, La.

Sterling made 13 saves in the first period as the Mudbugs had the RiverKings on the ropes in the early going. The 'Kings, though, got all the offense they needed at 1:10 of the second period. Aaron Davis cashed in on a rebound during a power play for his second goal of the season and a 1-0 Mississippi lead.

Chad Woollard also scored on the power play early in the second. HIs second goal of the season made it 2-0. Davis hit an empty-netter with four seconds remaining in the game to cap his two-goal night.

The RiverKings improved to 4-1 on the season and defeated the Mudbugs for the third time this season. The Mudbugs fell to 0-5-1 on the year.

The teams will play each other at the DeSoto Civic Center on Saturday night at 7:05.
