Hounds Stay Perfect With Win In Wichita

WICHITA, KANSAS - The Youngstown SteelHounds remained perfect on Saturday night with a 4-1 win over the Wichita Thunder.

The Hounds struck first as Eric Przepiorka crashed the net and took the puck in with him at 8:32 of the first period to put Youngstown up 1-0. Przepiorka added two assists to have a three point evening. Wichita answered back as Tyler Liebel scored his second goal of the season at 10:43 to tie the game at one after one period.

The second period started fast for Youngstown as Petr Pohl scored shorthanded on Jon Horell at 52 seconds into the second period to give the Hounds a 2-1 lead. The Pohl goal forced Thunder coach Mark French to pull Horell in favor of Sebastien Laplante.

In the third period Pohl struck again on the power play to put the Hounds up 3-1. Adam Smyth notched his first of the season with 4:50 to play to put the Hounds up 4-1. Pohl and Przepiorka each had three point nights. Przepiorka now has three goals and five assists while Pohl has three goals and four assists for the season.

Andy Franck made 19 saves on 20 shots for the Hounds. Youngstown out shot the Thunder 33-20 for the game.

The Hounds are 6-0-0 and play the Austin Ice Bats tomorrow night at 8:38. This game will be broadcasted on WSOM AM 600 and SteelHounds.com.
