Rage's Scott Wray Named Sher-wood/CHL Player of the Month
November 2, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rocky Mountain Rage News Release
Broomfield, Colo. - Rocky Mountain Rage assistant captain and leading scorer Scott Wray has been named the October Sher-wood/Central Hockey League Player of the Month. Wray ended the month ranked second in the league in overall scoring with 13 points (4g-9a) and tied for first in assists. He becomes the first Rage player in team history to garner a league monthly award.
"The way Scott has played is what we expected from a player of his caliber when we signed him in the off-season," said head coach Tracy Egeland. "He's a very talented offensive player, and he's been a big reason why we've had some early success. But, we all know it's very early in the season, and there's still a long way to go before we truly accomplish anything."
Wray's performance helped the Rage enter November perched atop the Northwest Division standings with a record of 4-0-1 and nine points. He began the campaign with a strong effort from the first drop of the puck, recording two goals, including both the team's first goal of the year and the game-winning tally in a season-opening win on Oct. 19 against the Odessa Jackalopes. The ninth-year pro went on to register at least one point in each game Rocky Mountain played last month and had a hand in nearly 70% of the team's goals. He also leads the team with a +9 rating, the league's best total of any player not wearing a Laredo Bucks sweater.
The Rage take the ice tonight against the Colorado Eagles at Broomfield Event Center at 7:05 p.m. The first 3,000 fans at tonight's showdown will receive a Rage Magnet Schedule courtesy of Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center, Front Range Orthopedics, and Physiotherapy Associates.
Single-game tickets range in price from $18-$43 per seat (parking included), and may be purchased through Ticketmaster. Log-on to www.Ticketmaster.com, call (303) 830-TIXS, or visit any Ticketmaster retail outlet.
Tonight's tilt concludes a season-high, four-game home stand for Rocky Mountain, after which the club will travel to suburban Albuquerque to battle the New Mexico Scorpions tomorrow at 7:15 p.m.
The live play-by-play action from both games will be broadcast on The New ESPN Radio 1600 with tonight's pre-game show beginning at 6:55 p.m. and tomorrow's airing at 7:00 p.m. Fans can also access live audio and video streaming from both games at www.rockymountainrage.com.
