November 2, 2007 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, TX- The Laredo Bucks of the Central Hockey League announced Friday that Dustin Traylen has been named the CHL/Sherwood goaltender of the month for October. This is the second league honor for Traylen in less than five days, as he was named the CHL goalie of the week on Monday. Traylen will receive a custom leather jacket from Sher-Wood, the official stick, glove, pant and protective equipment supplier to the CHL to recognize his accomplishment.

Traylen, a native of Kirkland, Quebec, is a big reason the Bucks have started a franchise-best 7-0 this season. In the month of October Traylen went 4-0, with two shutouts, to go along with a 1.48 goals against average, and a .941 save percentage. In his four games this season Traylen has allowed just six goals.

Traylen is only the second Bucks goalie ever to have back-to-back shutouts, joining David Guerrera, who shutout Rio Grande Valley on December 31st, 2004, before blanking the Rayz the next day. Traylen is also the third Bucks goalie to win his first four games of the season, joining Marco Emond in 2003-04, and Dov-Grumet-Morris in 2005-06. Emond started the '03-'04 season 5-0.

Traylen is only the second Bucks goaltender to be named CHL goalie of the month, joining David Guerrera who won the award in March of 2005.

Traylen is in his third professional season, having played in the AHL, ECHL, and UHL from 2005-2007. He is coming off of his best season as a pro. Last year he played in the UHL (now called IHL) for the Port Huron Flags, where he played in 44 games between the pipes, with a record of 22-17-4, with a .912 save percentage and a 2.76 G.A.A- all career bests. Traylen logged 2,412 minutes of ice time for the Flags last season, while posting four shutouts-another career best.

Traylen played his college hockey in upstate New York for Division I Clarkson University, where he played three seasons (2002-2005). In his three seasons with the Golden Knights Traylen went 30-37-8, with a .909 save percentage, and a 2.74 G.A.A, with five shutouts, while wining the Knight's Rookie of the Year award his freshman season.

The Bucks will look to win their eighth straight game to open the season on Saturday night, when they travel to Hidalgo for their second meeting in three days with the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees. Game time is set for 7:35pm.
