SOUTHAVEN --- The Central Hockey League today named RiverKings netminder Larry Sterling as the Oakley Goalie of the Week for the week that ended on Sunday. Sterling stopped a combined 48 of 50 shots in the RiverKings' two wins over the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs last weekend.

Sterling, a native of Lake Orion, MI, is in his first season with the RiverKings after playing his first two pro seasons with the Fort Worth Brahmas. For the season, he is 2-0-1 with a 1.84 goals against average and a .934 save percentage. His GAA currently ranks third in the league.

In the first game of the weekend, Sterling made 28 saves on 29 Bossier-Shreveport shots in a 3-1 RiverKings win. Only an unassisted shorthanded goal by Chris Brassard kept Sterling from his third career shutout.

On Saturday night, the Mudbugs scored in the first two minutes of the game on a redirection, but that would be all they could get past Sterling as held them scoreless through the rest of regulation and the overtime. He also stopped the last three Bossier shootout attempts to seal the win.

The RiverKings host the Oklahoma City Blazers for a Halloween night spookfest tomorrow night at the DeSoto Civic Center at 7:05. The first 1,500 fans receive WMC Channel 5 CheerStix. Also, fans that come in costume can get Red Level tickets for $5 (normally $12 at the box office). There will be first intermission costume contests for two categories: children 12 and under and fans older than 12.
