Sundogs Win Two to Start Five-Game, 11-Day Road Trip

The Arizona Sundogs started their five game, 11 day road trip with two wins, moving into first place in the Southwest Division.

The Sundogs first win came against the New Mexico Scorpions on Friday, October 27. In the first game at the new Santa Ana Star Center in Rio Rancho, the Sundogs beat the Scorpions 3-1. Forward Brent Kelly scored his first two games of the season after missing opening weekend action due to immigration delays. Torrie Wheat would add an empty-net goal late in the period to secure the win.

On his 25th birthday, Arizona netminder Chris King got his first win of the season in his first start for the Sundogs stopping 26 of 27 shots.

In its first shootout in franchise history, Arizona got its second win of the road trip on Sunday, October 29 against the Amarillo Gorillas.

Torrie Wheat scored his second and third goals of the season in the contest, while Brent Kelly tallied three assists and the game winner in the shootout. Dan Lapperriere collected his sixth and seventh helpers this season to move into second in the league in assists.

Ryan Steeves, Brent Kelly and Chris Greene scored in the shootout to secure the victory. Netminder Kris Mayotte, in his third start of the season got the victory, stopping 37 of 41 shots.

Lubbock Cotton Kings, Colorado Eagles Next Up for Arizona

Next up for the Sundogs are division foe, the Lubbock Cotton Kings on Tuesday, October 31 (10:00am Arizona time) and the Colorado Eagles on Friday, November 3 (7:00pm Arizona time) and Saturday, November 4 (7:00pm Arizona time) before heading home for their home opener at the Prescott Valley Convention and Events Center on Friday, November 10 against the Youngstown SteelHounds.

The Lubbock Cotton Kings are currently second in the Southwest Division at 2-1-0 in three games played. The Colorado Eagles are also 2-1-0 in three games played and sit in third in the Northwest Division.

All games can be heard on 96.7 FM The Wolf. Tuesday's game against the Lubbock Cotton Kings will be tape delayed until 7:00pm Arizona time.

PVCEC Nears Completion as Sundogs Move into New Offices

The Arizona Sundogs have moved into their new offices at the Prescott Valley Convention and Events Center, evidence that the building is near completion. The Sundogs new mailing address is 3201 N. Main St., Prescott Valley, AZ 86314. The Sundogs moved into their new offices this past weekend in conjunction with the painting of 17 in ice logos on the nearly-complete ice surface. In a process lasting 12 hours, staff of both the Arizona Sundogs and the PVCEC painted in ice logos and installed vinyl lines, circles and goal creases so that the ice surface can be built up to the proper level for skating purposes before the home opener for the Sundogs on November 10. The Sundogs, currently on a five game, 11 day road trip through New Mexico, Texas and Colorado will return to Prescott Valley November 5, five days before their home opener against the Northeast Division Youngstown SteelHounds.
