Laredo Bucks News Release

LAREDO, Texas - The defending 2005-06 CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks celebrated last season's dramatic championship run on Saturday night at the LEC with their fans. The Bucks raised the 2005-06 CHL President's Cup championship banner to the rafters, the players were given their championship rings prior to the game and then in the second period the Bucks held a drawing for season ticket holders in which one lucky fan was selected to receive their very own Bucks championship ring. Laredo resident and Bucks season ticket holder, Tomas Izaguirre, was picked in a random drawing by CHL President Brad Treliving to receive a Bucks championship ring, the same ring the players received. The Bucks are offering a family four pack of season tickets for the 2006-07 CHL regular season, which works out to just over $7 a seat per game and is a 48 % savings off walkup prices. Tomas, along with his wife Odette, has been a Bucks season ticket holder since the inaugural 2002-03 season. He owns the Laredo Downtown Pharmacy in the Sames Moore building and works with his son Tomas Izaguirre III, who is also a pharmacist.

"It was pretty exciting on Saturday," said Izaguirre. "When they announced it I heard section 105, row DD, and seat 17 and I knew that I had won the ring. I know how special the rings are to the players. I was in Bossier last season during the Finals and I saw what the players went thru by playing hurt. As a Bucks fans it is very special to get a championship ring."

Izaguirre, who grew up in Hebbronville, has lived in Laredo since 1977. While he attended the Texas Southern School of Pharmacy in Houston from 1974-77, he watched current Bucks coach Terry Ruskowski play for the Houston Aeros.

"I have been a 'rosco' fan ever since," said Izaguirre. "He has brought a winning attitude to Laredo."

Izaguirre, age 56, was in the Bucks office on Monday to get sized for his championship ring.

"Without the fans there would be no Laredo Bucks hockey club," said Bucks President John Beckelhymer. "The fans are such a big part of our success. We felt honored to be able to reward one of season ticket holders with a championship ring. Our season ticket holders are the lifeblood of our organization and we constantly look for ways to try to say thank you. All during the 2006-07 season we'll be having drawings for prizes and unique opportunities to reward our season ticket holders."

Izaguirre will be presented with his ring on the ice during a Bucks game later this season.

Bucks season ticket holders enjoy exclusive benefits including pre & post-season parties with the team, pre-registration for post-game skates, the ability to redeem unused tickets, priority seating for playoffs, prize drawings and much more.
