Ottawa Lynx News Release

Lynx starter John Stephens was outstanding, pitching 8.0 scoreless innings, giving up only four hits and striking out nine as the Ottawa Lynx defeated the Louisville Bats 3-0 on Tuesday night. Walter Young drove in two runs for the Lynx, while Tim Raines Jr. went 3-for-4 with a run scored.

Ottawa took three-of-four from Louisville and the win improves their record to 55-55 on the year.

Lynx Player of the Game: RHP John Stephens was dominant on the mound, striking out nine in 8.0 shutout innings.

Recap: The Lynx got on the board in the bottom of the first inning. Bernie Castro reached on a bunt single and went to third on Tim Raines Jr.'s line drive single to right. Raines Jr. advanced to second on a groundout and both runners would come in to score when Walter Young lined a single to center, giving the Lynx a 2-0 lead. John Stephens would take things from there, keeping the bats off balance all night as he struck out a season-high nine batters. The Lynx would give Stephens one more insurance run in the 7th, in a similar manner to their first scoring effort. Keith Reed reached on a bunt single and took third on Eli Whiteside's hit-and-run base hit through the right side. Ed Rogers then grounded out to short, scoring Reed and giving the Lynx the 3-0 lead. RHP Aaron Rakers would come in to pitch a scoreless 9th inning to collect his 7th save of the season.

Next Game: The Lynx welcome the Scranton/WB Red Barons for the first game of a three-game set. Game time for tomorrow night's contest is 7:05 pm.

Probable Pitchers:

Wednesday vs. Scranton, 7:05 pm Ottawa RHP John Maine (6-9, 4.73) vs. RHP Clay Condrey (5-5, 3.94)
