Stephen's Homer Not Enough in R-Phils Loss

The Reading Fightin Phils fell to the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 6-2 on Thursday night in the final series of 2021. Josh Stephen recorded two hits, while Dalton Guthrie notched three on the night.

The Rumble Ponies scored in the bottom of the first as Carlos Rincon batted in Antoine Duplantis who reached on an error.

Reading tied in up in the second thanks to a solo shot from Stephen.

The R-Phils tacked on another as a sacrifice fly from Bryson Stott scored Colby Fitch.

Binghamton plated three in the bottom of the fourth as Manny Rodriguez had an RBI double while Jake Mangum scored two off his base hit. They led 4-2.

The home team added insurance runs in the bottom of the eighth as a perfectly placed pop up into shallow right field from Wagner Lagrange scored two.

James McArthur (L, 2-6) threw five innings allowing four runs, three earned, on eight hits. He struck out six. Nick Lackney had a perfect inning of work. Jonathan Hennigan used a clutch pick off to get the third out of his frame. Aneurys Zabala took the eighth letting up two runs on two hits.

The R-Phils take on the Binghamton Rumble Ponies tomorrow night at 7:05pm.
