
Steinkamp to be Honored by NBC World Series

WICHITA, KS- The National Baseball Congress (NBC) World Series will induct Bob Steinkamp into the NBC Hall of Fame prior to the feature game on Sunday, August 4th.
Steinkamp served as head coach of the Beatrice (NE) Bruins for 40 years in which he amassed more than 1,300 career wins and made 25 appearances in the NBC World Series. 17 of Steinkamp's players have reached the Major Leagues, including 2013 NBC Graduate of the Year Alex Gordon. In 1998, Steinkamp earned the tournament's Sportsmanship Award.
"Bob has dedicated the majority of his life to baseball," said NBC Operations Manager Kevin Jenks. "He is being inducted as an ambassador of the game and his accomplishments speak for themselves. He continues to demonstrate a deep passion for the game of baseball and we are honored as an organization to welcome him into the Hall of Fame.
Steinkamp has also worked 20 years as a professional scout for the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago Cubs, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays. He is currently a scout with the Seattle Mariners.
"Baseball has been a big part of my life for 40 years and this is the ultimate individual accolade that I have ever received," Steinkamp said. "Working with real talented ball players and establishing relationships with my players was what it was all about for me."
Steinkamp was inducted into the Nebraska Baseball Hall of Fame in 2009 and received similar honors in the Clarinda, IA Baseball Hall of Fame in 2011. Steinkamp is currently the commissioner of the MINK summer collegiate league.
