Steelheads Win In Ontario, 3-1

Ontario, CA- The Idaho Steelheads (19-11-2) earned a 3-1 victory in their first visit to the Citizens Business Bank Arena against the Ontario Reign (18-11-2). Two unanswered second period goals were all Idaho would need.

At 3:17 of the first, Bryan McGregor opened the scoring for the Steelheads; he now has goals in five straight games. The assist on the goal went to Mark Bomersback. Less than a minute later, Tim Kraus scored his seventh of the season to tie the game for Ontario; Chris Curran and Geoff Walker were credited with assists on what would be the only goal of the night for the Reign.

In the second period, Ben Nelson scored his 14th at 7:43, assisted by Garett Bembridge and Kris Sparre; the goal would be the eventual game-winner. Mark Bomersback made it 3-1 when he took a Ben Nelson shot off the goal post, and deposited the puck passed Ontario goalie John Murray for his sixth of the season; Steve Gainey also earned an assist on the goal.

Matt Climie earned his eighth win in nine starts for Idaho, improving to 11-5-0. He stopped 28 of 29 shots. John Murray, who had won nine of his last 10 starts entering tonight, suffers the loss. He falls to 10-5-1 after stopping 34 of 37 Idaho shots.
