Steelheads Off The Hook
November 26, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release
BATTLE OF THE FISH
The Steelheads were able to string together a couple of wins at Qwest Arena over the weekend against the West Division's first place Victoria Salmon Kings. After losing 4-1 Wednesday to Victoria, Idaho came back to win Friday 5-1. For the rubber match on Saturday, the final game of the three-game homestand, Idaho's rookie goaltender Kellen Briggs earned the team's first shutout of the season, beating the Salmon Kings 3-0 and turning away 23 shots. The Steelheads notched six shutouts during the 2006-07 season.
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
The Steelheads rank first overall in the ECHL at home (6-1-3-1), but are third to last (22nd overall) in the away category as one of two winless road teams (0-3-1-1). Idaho has played only five road games versus 11 home contests, so this week should be a good test as the team travels to Las Vegas to take on the League's third best team. The Wranglers are the National Conference leaders with a 12-2-0 record, 5-1 at home.
