
Campbell Assigned to Gwinnett from AHL Norfolk

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that forward Jeff Campbell has been assigned to the team from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League. In addition, Gwinnett placed Jim Jackson on the 7-day IR while moving Chad Denny to the active roster from injured reserve.
While on recall to the Norfolk Admirals, Campbell posted 2 goals and an assist for 3 points while appearing in 8 American Hockey League games. Campbell also notched 2 penalty minutes and was a -1 during that span
Prior to being called up to Norfolk, Campbell had posted 13 points on 2 goals and 11 assists in 8 games with the Gladiators. He led Gwinnett in scoring at the time of his recall and ranked 3rd overall in the ECHL in scoring.
Campbell split time last season with the Gladiators and the Grand Rapids Griffins of the AHL. In only 11 games with Gwinnett last season, Campbell scored 17 points on 3 goals and 14 assists. He also tallied 10 goals and 21 assists for 31 points with Grand Rapids.
The Hensall, Ontario native is a two time ECHL All Star and was named ECHL MVP for the 2005-06 season while leading the team in scoring during the regular season with 83 points. He had 30 goals with the Gladiators for the second consecutive season that year while his 53 assists ranked second on the team.
Campbell should be available for the Gladiators for this Friday's 8:30 p.m. match up against the Texas Wildcatters at the Ford Arena in Beaumont, Texas.

Celebrating its 20th Anniversary as the Premier 'AA' Hockey League in 2007-08, the ECHL began in 1988-89 with five teams in three states and has grown to be a coast-to-coast league that has 25 teams in 17 states and British Columbia in 2007-08. The 25 teams includes the Mississippi (Biloxi) Sea Wolves, who return after missing two seasons in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, and the expansion Elmira (N.Y.) Jackals. The ECHL will play 900 games beginning Oct. 18 and concluding Apr. 5.
