Steelheads Make it a Perfect 10 at Home

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads ran their home record to a perfect 10-0 tonight with a 3-2 win over the Long Beach Ice Dogs at Bank of America Centre in a game that featured few penalties and plenty of hard hits.

Captain Jeremy Mylymok thrilled the crowd of 4,319 when he scored the game-winning goal at 17:21 of the third period, assisted by Chris Marinucci and Joe Rybar to cap the Steelheads comeback.

The Steelheads scored first on a shot by newcomer Rory McDade, who played his first game with the Steelheads tonight. The goal was assisted by Mylymok and Jeff Shevalier. The first period ended with the Steelheads up by one.

The only scoring in the second period came from Long Beach. J.P. O'Connor tapped one in past Jason Cugnet (unassisted) at 1:23. Jamie O'Leary gave the Ice Dogs the lead just 31 seconds later. The goal was assisted by O'Connor and Nathan Horne.

Long Beach and goaltender Mike Buzak held onto the lead until Petr Suchanek scored his first of the year, at 14:07 of the third. Joe Rybar and Marty Flichel assisted on the goal. Mylymok's 5th goal of the year completed the scoring.

Jason Cugnet, the West Coast Hockey League's top goaltender stopped 17 shots to improve his record to 9-4-1, while Long Beach's Mike Buzak stopped 42. Buzak is now 4-7-0.

The two teams play again tomorrow night, the second of a three-game series. Monday night, the Steelheads expect to welcome their one-millionth fan to the Bank of America Centre.
