SAN DIEGO, Calif. – Dean Tiltgen scored twice and assisted on two others as the San Diego Gulls scored five unanswered goals in a 6-3 victory over the Anchorage Aces before a crowd of 4,380 Friday at the San Diego Sports Arena.

San Diego dominated the first period but saw its back-up goaltender, Cris Classen, surrender two goals on the first three shots of the game for Anchorage. The Gulls opened the game's scoring on the power play at 3:45 when Mark Pederson ripped a one-timer past Aces netminder Ryan Person. But Dean Larson responded with a rush from the right side that culminated with a forehand shot tucked just inside the right post, deadlocking the contest 1-1 at the 7:19 mark. Anchorage grabbed the lead when rookie Ryan Moren registered his first professional goal, blasting a slap shot from the right point past Classen in the midst of a power play with 5:50 remaining in the first period.

The Aces built the lead to 3-1 when Carl Drakensjo launched a slapper that beat Classen 6:37 into the second period. That edge held up until the final 2:25 of the middle frame, when Tiltgen and Kevin Grant scored goals in a span of 1:29 to even the game 3-3 heading into the final 20 minutes. Anchorage mustered just four shots in the third period, and former Ace Clayton Read again came back to haunt his former team by giving the Gulls the lead for good with 9:31 left. Tiltgen scored a power play goal, San Diego's third of the night, for a 5-3 margin at 13:58 and Trent Clark tacked on an empty-netter with 1:53 remaining to account for the final margin.

Read and Pederson each finished with a goal and three assists as the Gulls (11-10-1) stretched their winning streak to three while Anchorage absorbed its first loss in four games after a sweep of Bakersfield at home last weekend. Person was the hard-luck loser despite recording a season-high 43 saves. The Aces (7-17-1) will face the Condors tomorrow night at 6:00 p.m. AST in Bakersfield's Centennial Garden. Bakersfield improved to 14-6-2 by defeating Fresno earlier in the evening.

All games are broadcast live on KFQD 750 AM and at www.anchorageaces.com or www.kfqd.com with Jack Michaels calling the play-by-play. Coverage begins 20 minutes prior to the opening face-off, presented by GCI.
