Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, ID- The Idaho Steelheads (4-3-4) fell 2-1 in a shootout to the Stockton Thunder (6-1-1) in the first meeting between the two teams since last Spring's National Conference Final. Kael Mouillierat put Idaho on top 1-0 after the teams battled for over scoreless minutes before Idaho eventually fell in a shootout.

After two scoreless periods, Kael Mouillierat took a pass from Sean Backman- making his Steelheads debut- picked up his own rebound, and fired a puck upstairs to beat Bryan Pitton and give Idaho a 1-0 lead. Mouillierat, who netted a hat trick on Saturday night, picked up his fifth of the season at 12:10 of the third period.

Just over four minutes later at 16:18 of the third period, Jesse Gimblett attempted to center a puck from behind the Idaho net, and the puck took a bounce and found its way over the Idaho goal line to tie the game at 1-1.

Overtime did not yield a winner, but Stockton dominated the shootout, as all three Thunder shooters scored, and all three Steelheads shooters failed to convert.

Tyler Beskorowany, who led the league in saves entering the game, turned away 43 pucks in the shootout loss; his record moves to 4-3-3 for Idaho. Bryan Pitton is 3-0-0 with the win after turning away 32 of 33 shots in the game for Stockton.

The Steelheads and Thunder will renew their rivalry on Friday and Saturday nights at Qwest Arena. The puck drops at 7:10 PM each night.
