Elmira Jackals News Release

The Elmira Jackals announced Wednesday that they have signed rookie goaltender Zane Kalemba to a standard player contract.

Kalemba comes off of a four-year career at Princeton University (NCAA, D-1) in which he set Tigers career records for games played (108), save percentage (.912), wins (57), and shutouts (9).

His senior season of 2009-2010 saw Kalemba named second-team All-Ivy, a campaign during which he went 8-12-3 with a .898 save percentage and a 3.19 goals-against average.

In 2008-2009, Kalemba had the most prolific season statistically ever for a Tigers goaltender. The Saddle Brook, N.J. native set Princeton single-season records with 22 wins, a .932 save percentage, and a 1.82 goals-against average, earning him the ECAC and Ivy League Player of the year titles. Kalemba's performance made him a Top-10 Finalist for the 2009 Hobey Baker Award, given out each year to the NCAA's top men's hockey player.

The Tigers qualified for the NCAA Tournament during Kalemba's junior and sophomore seasons. In 2007-2008, Kalemba's second season at the school, the sophomore went 19-11-0 with a .916 save percentage and a 2.38 goals-against average and was named second-team All-Ivy.

Kalemba was 8-11-1 with a .891 save percentage and a 2.89 goals-against average in his freshman season of 2006-2007.

The first-year pro played in one game this season for the CHL's Missouri Mavericks.
