Brampton Steelheads News Release

MISSISSAUGA, ON - General Manager, James Richmond announced this afternoon that the Mississauga Steelheads have acquired '99-born winger, Nick McHugh from the Kitchener Rangers in exchange for a 4th round pick in '19 (SAG), an 8th round pick in '20 (MISS) and a 3rd round pick in '23 (MISS).

With the trade, the Steelheads have added a veteran forward to compliment the club's young talent up front. Originally selected by the Rangers in the 2015 draft, McHugh has skated in 197 regular season OHL contests along with a total of 27 playoff games; including a 19-game run last season with the Rangers where he chipped in with 8 post-season points.

McHugh is in the midst of his best OHL season to date having registered 9 goals and 25 points in just 27 games played. The Gloucester, ON native is just one point shy of the career-high 26 he posted in 2017-18 and is showing no sign of slowing down with 11 points over his last 11 games played.

James Richmond comments on today's addition, "We would like to welcome Nick McHugh to our hockey team. Nick brings a high compete, 200' game that we like to play here in Mississauga. Nick will fit in nicely as we make our playoff push. Nick's experience in big games will be beneficial to our younger guys. We look forward to having Nick in our lineup this coming weekend and moving forward. Welcome to the Steelheads Family Nick!"

The newest Steelhead is expected to make his debut in the blue and white on Thursday night in North Bay as the club kicks off a 3-game road trip. He will wear #13.
