GENEVA, ILLINOIS - Chicago Steel right wing Haralds Egle (Liep?ja, Latvia) has committed to play for the Clarkson Golden Knights (ECAC) in Potsdam, N.Y. Egle, 19, is the 16th player on Chicago's current roster to commit to an NCAA Division I hockey program and the fifth Steel player to earn a commitment during the 2015-2016 season.

The 5-10, 188-pound forward has tallied two goals and 10 assists in 25 games with the Steel since being acquired Jan. 7 from the Madison Capitols. Three of those assists were recorded during Chicago's exciting 5-4 comeback win Saturday against the Des Moines Buccaneers.

"We are very excited for Haralds and the opportunity he has earned to attend and play hockey at Clarkson," said Steel Head Coach Dan Muse. "He is very focused and driven to reach his full potential on and off the ice. Those qualities helped him get this opportunity and will help him take full advantage of it when he is there. I expect that he will do great things at Clarkson."

Over the course of three seasons, Egle has appeared in 141 USHL games, recording a total of 27 goals and 54 assists in his time spent with the Steel, Capitols and Muskegon Lumberjacks. Additionally, Egle has represented his native Latvia in international tournaments in five consecutive seasons. Along with his Steel teammate, Karlis Cukste, Egle helped Latvia win the 2016 IIHF Ice Hockey U20 World Championship (Division I Group A) this past December in Vienna, Austria.

"I'm really happy (to commit to Clarkson)," said Egle. "I thought that Clarkson would be the best fit for me. The school strives in athletics and academically and that is what I was looking for."

The Golden Knights compete in the ECAC conference. Three of Egle's Steel teammates are also committed to ECAC programs: Jack Gessert (Brown University), Jake Nielsen (St. Lawrence University) and Billy Sweezey (Yale University).
