Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release
CHICAGO, IL - The Muskegon Lumberjacks are proud to announce that forward Rem Pitlick has been named The CCM Forward of the Week by the United States Hockey League. This is Pitlick's fifth time receiving the honor this season following a strong seven point performance in three games last week.
Thursday, Pitlick registered one goal and two assists in the Lumberjacks 5-3 loss to the United States National Team Developmental U18 Program. After registering his third point of the game with an assist on Dante Palecco's second goal, Pitlick became the second Lumberjacks player this season to eclipse 100 career points.
The following night, Pitlick scored one goal and collected two assists to help Muskegon blast the Madison Capitols 7-1, for their largest win of the season. Saturday, Pitlick netted his 46th goal of the season, to help lift the Lumberjacks to a weekend sweep over the Capitols 4-1. The win clinched Muskegon a winning record for the 2015-2016 regular season.
Pitlick currently holds a 25 point lead in the USHL scoring race with 46 goals and 42 assists for a total of 88 points on the season. The University of Minnesota commit is currently in third place in USHL tier one single-season goal scoring record. He trails Daniil Tarasov (47 goals) by one goal for second all time. Kevin Roy sits atop the USHL tier one goal scoring record with 54 goals during the 2011-2012 season.
This marks the fifth time Pitlick has received this award this season, with his first dating back to early December. He is also the fourth Lumberjacks player to receive the CCM Player of the Week honors this season, joining goaltender Joey Daccord (2), defenseman Trevor Hamilton, and forward Matej Paulovic.
The Muskegon Lumberjacks (27-24-7) will play their final two games of the 2015-2016 regular season this weekend. Friday, April 8th, the puck will drop at 8:30 p.m. when the Lumberjacks take on the Chicago Steel (24-26-7). Saturday, April 9th, Muskegon will close out their season when they travel to Iowa to take on the Des Moines Buccaneers (24-30-4) at 8:05 p.m.
