USHL Names CCM Players of the Week

The United States Hockey League announced the CCM Forward, Defenseman and Goaltender of the Week for Week 28 of the 2015-16 season. Rem Pitlick, the league's leading scorer, won his fifth weekly award thanks to a seven-point weekend, Jake Ryczek scored a four-point weekend to earn Defenseman of the Week, and Stefanos Lekkas stopped 74 shots over two games, both of which were wins, to be named Goaltender of the Week. CCM Hockey is the official equipment partner of the USHL.

Forward: Rem Pitlick - Muskegon Lumberjacks

3 games: 3 goals, 4 assists, +5 rating

Pitlick, the league's leading goal scorer, was named Forward of the Week for the fifth time this season. The Plymouth, MN native had a goal and two assists on Thursday at Team USA as well as on Friday at Madison. The University of Minnesota commit added another tally in the second game against the Capitols on Saturday to move his point total for the three games to seven. He is currently on a five-game goal streak dating back to March 25th and an 11-game point streak dating back to March 5th. Pitlick sits with 46 goals and 88 points, both of which lead the league by a substantial margin. The former Shattuck St. Mary's forward is in his second USHL season, and has 104 points in 101 career league games.

Defenseman: Jake Ryczek - Waterloo Black Hawks

3 games: 1 goal, 3 assists, Even rating

Ryczek has been named USHL Defenseman of the Week for the second time this season, both with Waterloo. The Providence College commit scored the game-winning goal in Waterloo's thrilling 5-4 road victory over the Lincoln Stars on Friday night. He also had two assists on Tuesday night in a win over Des Moines. Ryczek now has 20 points (4 G, 16 A) in 16 games for Waterloo since coming over in a trade with Sioux City earlier in the season. He has 34 points (7 G, 27 A) in 45 total USHL games this season, and now has 52 points in 100 career USHL games. The Ludlow, MA native joined the USHL for the 2014-15 season after playing for Selects Hockey Academy 16U and South Kent Prep. He was the 14th overall pick of Sioux City in the 2014 USHL Phase I Draft.

Goaltender: Stefanos Lekkas - Sioux Falls Stampede

2-0-0-0, 1.02 GAA, .974 SV%

Lekkas won his second Goaltender of the Week honor this season after lifting the Stampede to a pair of wins over the weekend to keep the defending Clark Cup Champions in playoff contention. He stopped 37 of 39 shots in a 3-2 win over the Des Moines Buccaneers on Saturday, and followed up that performance by turning all 37 shots he faced aside in a 2-0 victory at Lincoln on Saturday night. The shutout over the Stars was the Elburn, IL native's second shutout of the season. He currently sports a record of 23-15-2-1, 2.56 GAA and .923 SV%. His save percentage is third in the entire USHL. Lekkas backstopped the Stampede last season with a 2.76 GAA and a .903 SV% in 42 regular season games as well as an even better 2.10 GAA and a .932 SV% during playoffs. He also played one game for Sioux Falls in the 2013-14 season. Prior to his time in the USHL, Lekkas played for the Springfield Jr. Blues (NAHL), Chicago Mission U16 and U18 programs (HPHL) as well as the Team Illinois Bantam Major and Bantam Minor AAA programs. He is committed to the University of Vermont.
