-SPIKES STAYING ON A ROLL: The State College Spikes, winners of six of their last seven games, look for their fifth straight home win at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park as they finish a pair of games against the Jamestown Jammers tonight. The matchup is part of four straight games between the two teams, marking the fifth run of four or more games against the same team for the 2011 Spikes. State College is 23-31 against Jamestown all-time.
-LAST GAME: The State College Spikes came back up off the deck in the eighth inning, responding to the Jamestown Jammers taking the lead in the top half of the frame by scoring five runs of their own and taking a 6-2 win on Friday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Jamestown scored in the eighth inning to take a 2-1 lead, but the Spikes got two hits, a walk and a sacrifice to tie the game. Ashley Ponce then laid down a perfect suicide squeeze bunt to put the Spikes ahead, and State College would score three more runs in the inning to seal the victory. Spikes starter Nick Kingham allowed just one unearned run over five innings.
-STEVENSON GETS SECOND SPIKES START: Right-hander Trent Stevenson makes his third appearance and second start for State College in 2011 tonight. Stevenson went three innings on the mound in his last start on Monday against Lowell and allowed five runs on seven hits while striking out one in a no-decision. The Arizona native made 22 appearances for Single-A West Virginia earlier this season, including three starts.
-OLIVER MAKES START FOR JAMMERS: Jamestown right-hander Dejai Oliver gets the ball tonight to finish off the series in State College. Oliver joined the Jammers in mid-July, and has made three appearances with Jamestown in 2011. An eighth-round pick of the Marlins in this year's draft out of Seminole State College, Oliver took the loss in his last outing, yielding three runs on five hits and two walks over four innings at Staten Island.
