Norwich Sea Unicorns News Release

LOWELL, MA - The Connecticut Tigers fell into an early hole and were not able to dig themselves out of it, as they fell 6-2 to the Lowell Spinners on Saturday night at LeLacheur Park.

After the Tigers jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning last night, it was the Spinners bouncing out to an early lead tonight. Lowell got four hits in a row to start the first inning, with the first five men reaching base.

The Spinners ended up scoring two runs in the inning and added two more runs in the second to take a 4-0 lead.

Lowell's Felix Doubront, on rehab from Triple-A Pawtucket, retired all six batters he faced to start the game before giving way to Raynel Velette.

The Tigers cut the deficit in half to 4-2 with a run in the third and then a run in the fourth on a Dean Green solo homer, his fourth bomb of the season. However, that would be as close as Connecticut would get.

Lowell scored two more runs in the sixth inning to take a 6-2 lead, which would be the final score. Tommy Collier suffered his first loss of the year, while Velette earned his second win of the season.

Green finished the game 2-for-4 with the homer to improve his batting average to .356 on the season. Ryan Kalish, also on rehab from Pawtucket, went 3-for-4 with two RBI for the Spinners.

The Tigers will head back home to begin a five-game homestand tomorrow afternoon against the Lowell Spinners. First pitch is set for 1:05 PM.
