-SPIKES FINISH PAIR WITH DOUBLEDAYS: The State College Spikes complete the first half of their four-game road trip tonight with the last of a two-game set against the Auburn Doubledays at Falcon Park. The Spikes took two series victories from the Doubledays in July and lead the season series, 5-2. State College also leads the all-time series, 25-22.
-LAST GAME: The Spikes were held to just two hits all game, but took advantage of two Doubledays errors in the eighth inning to take a 2-1 win last night at Falcon Park. Matt Curry and Chase Lyles each doubled in the first two innings, but State College was held out of the hit column for the rest of the game. Casey Sadler pitched three perfect innings for the win, and Ryan Beckman earned his third save with a scoreless ninth inning.
-DODSON TAKES HIS TURN FOR SPIKES: Left-hander Zack Dodson makes his first start since July 15 tonight for State College. Dodson has made six starts to this point in the season and eight overall appearances. The Natalia, TX native picked up his first career professional win this past Monday against Mahoning Valley, throwing 2.2 scoreless and hitless innings in relief. This evening will mark Dodson's first appearance against Auburn in 2010.
-WEBB LOOKS TO TRAP STATE COLLEGE: Right-hander Daniel Webb will be Auburn's starter tonight. Webb has struggled as of late, allowing a total of 11 runs, ten earned, on 16 hits over seven innnings of work in his last two starts. The Northwest Florida State alum was chosen by the Blue Jays in the 18th round of last year's draft.
-CURRY AMONG HITTING LEADERS: With his five plate appearances on Wednesday, Matt Curry reached the minimum needed to appear on the NYPL lists in batting average (3rd, .364), slugging (5th, .556) and on-base percentage (2nd, .448). Curry was the league leader in batting entering Thursday's action, and led the league in slugging that day as well.
