
Hudson Valley Completes Two-Game Sweep of Aberdeen with a 12-4

The Hudson Valley Renegades defeated the Aberdeen IronBirds, 12-4, completing a two-game series sweep in front of 4,007 fans at Dutchess Stadium Sunday night.
The host Renegades scored in six of their eight at-bats, establishing a season-high for runs (12) at The Dutch, and tying a season-high for hits in a home game (16). The 'Gades won for the 13th time in 21 games and evened their record at 20-20.
Every Renegades starter had at least one hit. Defensive replacement Diogenes Luis had two hits and a team-high three runs batted in. Luis' 5th inning home run was his first as a Renegade, and occurred in his 71st game in a Hudson Valley uniform. Eight different players scored and seven drove in at least one run for Hudson Valley, which was 7-for-14 with runners in scoring position.
Renegades catcher Alejandro Torres had his first three-hit game of the season, and tied a team season-high with three runs scored. Burt Reynolds (.381, 8-for-21, 3 doubles, 4RBI since 7/28) became the sixth Hudson Valley player to hit two doubles in a game this year, giving him a New York-Penn League-leading 14 two-base hits in 2010. Torres and Robby Price both reached base four times for the home team. Price also stole his tenth base of the season, tying him with Nick Schwaner and Chris Winder for the team lead.
Elias Otero (2-for-5 tonight, 2runs, RBI) has now collected at least one hit in eight of his last nine games. In that span, Otero has four multi-hit games, has scored two runs on four separate occasions, and hit .361 (13-for-36), raising his average 92 points from .135 to .227.
Winning pitcher Nate Garcia (3-1) tied Austin Hubbard for the team lead with his third victory, allowing just two hits and striking out five in 3.1 scoreless innings.
The Renegades will look for their fifth win in six games tomorrow night, as they travel to Brooklyn to take on the Cyclones at MCU Park. First pitch will be at 7:05 pm.
