LOWELL, MA --- Ronnie LaBrie went 3-for-5 with three runs scored and a team record-tying 7 RBI as the Vermont Lake Monsters scored a season-high 13 runs in a 13-4 victory over the Lowell Spinners in New York-Penn League action Sunday afternoon at LeLecheur Park.

LaBrie began the day with a two-run single in the top of the first inning for a 2-0 lead. Vermont had loaded the bases on a walk, hit batter and a bunt single before Lowell starter Hunter Cervenka struckout David Freitas and Wade Moore. Cervenka was one pitch from getting out of the bases-loaded jam, but LaBrie was able to drop an 0-2 pitch inbetween second baseman Joantoni Garcia and rightfielder Brendan Jacobs for the two-run single.

The Spinners tied the game with a Kolbrin Vitek solo homer in the bottom of the first and a Joantoni Garcia RBI single in the bottom of the second, but LaBrie gave the Lake Monsters the lead back in the third with a three-run homer to leftcenter for a 5-2 Vermont advantage. LaBrie came to bat again in the fifth and stroked a two-run double down the leftfield line to score Freitas and Moore for a 7-2 lead. The seven RBI tied the team-record set by Francisco Plasencia in the 2005 season-finale for Vermont at Tri-City.

Kevin Keyes followed the LaBrie two-run double with an RBI double of his own to give the Lake Monsters an 8-2 lead. Lowell got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth, but Vermont reliever Cameron Selik (1-0) allowed just one hit (which was erased on a double play) over 3 1/3 innings for his first win of the season. Vermont finished off the Spinners with five runs in the ninth inning, including two-run doubles for Moore and Blake Kelso.

The 13 runs for the Lake Monsters were a season-high, bettering 10 runs that Vermont had scored in four other games. The Lake Monsters also had a season-high five doubles in the game, while LaBrie and Moore both scored a season high-tying three runs. LaBrie's home run was his third of the season and second in the Lake Monsters last three games.

Lake Monsters starter Bobby Hansen allowed four runs (three earned) on six hits with three walks and eight strikeouts over 4 2/3 innings for a no-decision, while Cervenka (0-3) was charged with eight runs on seven hits with four walks over four-plus innings to take the loss for Lowell (10-33).

Vermont (25-17), which remains two games in front of Connecticut (23-19) for first-place in the Stedler Division, head to Tri-City for a two-game series beginning on Monday night. The Lake Monsters will return home to historic Centennial Field on Wednesday to begin a six-game homestand with a pair of three-game series against the Auburn Doubledays and Batavia Muckdogs.
