-SPIKES RETURN HOME TO FACE CYCLONES: The State College Spikes face the Brooklyn Cyclones tonight in the middle game of a three-game series. The Cyclones currently lead the McNamara Division and have the best record in the NYPL. Last year, Brooklyn took two out of three games from State College back in New York City. The Spikes are 3-7 all-time against the Cyclones, and have never defeated them at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

-LAST GAME: State College was held to three hits in a 6-1 loss at the hands of Brooklyn last night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Cyclones starter Darin Gorski went seven innings and allowed just one hit and two walks to secure the victory. Gorski retired 16 straight Spikes at one point, Pat Irvine provided State College's only run with a second-inning RBI double. David Rubinstein and Aaron Baker each provided a base hit for the Spikes as well.

-SPIKES TO START ERICKSON : Right-hander Jason Erickson gets the ball for State College tonight. Erickson will make his seventh start and 13th overall appearance. The University of Washington product has a 36-to-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio with the Spikes, and has not walked a batter in over 13 innings. Last time out, Erickson started and allowed one run on four hits over four innings in a no-decision against Oneonta last Thursday.

-McHUGH TAKES HILL FOR BROOKLYN: Right-hander Collin McHugh makes his team-leading 12th start of the year for the Cyclones tonight. McHugh's six victories place him in a tie for third in the league, one behind teammate Mark Cohoon and State College's Tyler Cox. The Mets' 18th-round draft pick in 2008 out of Berry College, McHugh has a 2-0 record and a 4.95 ERA away from home and has walked more than twice as many batters per nine innings on the road.

-SPIKES MAKE MARK DURING ALL-STAR GAME: A crowd of 5,401 saw Brock Holt, Phillip Irwin and Zach Foster take the field for the NL All-Stars in Tuesday's NYPL All-Star Game. Holt scored the NL's last run, while Irwin picked up three outs in just eight pitches during the secon inning. Foster gave up the winning runs, however, as the AL All-Stars won, 4-2.
