-SPIKES LOOK TO PUT DAMPER ON JAMMERS' PLAYOFF HOPES: The State College Spikes have clinched the Pinckney Division title and home-field advantage throughout the New York-Penn League playoffs, and now can play a part in deciding their NYPL Semifinal Series opponent as they face the Jamestown Jammers in the 2013 regular season finale at Russell Diethrick Park. The Jammers hold a one-game lead on Lowell for the NYPL Wild Card berth, the winner of which will face the Spikes in the Semifinal Series. A Jamstown loss and Lowell win tonight would send the Spinners to the Semifinal Series. State College holds a 9-1 edge in the season series against Jamestown. Jamestown leads the all-time series, 40-39.

-LAST GAME: Luke Voit got the first hit of the game for the State College Spikes, and his two-out, two-run single in the eighth inning was the Spikes' biggest hit in a 3-1 victory over the Jamestown Jammers on Tuesday night at Russell Diethrick Park in the next-to-last game of the 2013 regular season. Voit stopped Jammers starter Cody Dickson's string of 11 straight batters retired to begin the game by rapping a single to center field and became the only Spike with multiple hits in the game when his single to right-center field broke a 1-1 tie in the eighth. Cesar Valera also delivered a big hit for State College, as his solo home run over the left field wall off Jackson Lodge in the sixth inning tied the game. Valera added a stolen base as well.

-PAULINO HEADS TO HILL FOR SPIKES TONIGHT: Right-hander Willy Paulino gets the start today for the Spikes in the final game of the regular season. Paulino has alternated between the bullpen and the rotation, and has had top-flight efforts in both roles. The Dominican right-hander is the owner of just the second complete game in Spikes history, a five-inning, rain-shortened effort against Connecticut on July 22. Paulino has 14 total appearances on the year, eight of them starts, with a 1-1 record and a 3.35 ERA as a starter.

-JAMMERS SEND KUHL TO MOUND: Right-hander Chad Kuhl makes his 13th start of the year for Jamestown tonight. Kuhl last faced the Spikes on Friday, going five innings and allowing one unearned run on seven hits while striking out seven. The Bear, DE native did not factor into the decision. Kuhl was selected by the Pirates in the ninth round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of the University of Delaware. With the Jammers, Kuhl is 0-3 with a 4.63 ERA at Diethrick Park. The righty has not yet allowed a home run this season in 50 1/3 innings.

-SPIKE MARKS: Steven Ramos leads the NYPL in batting by 20 points over Jamestown's Adam Frazier (.347 to .327) with one game remaining as he seeks the Spikes' first-ever league batting title...Spikes team MVP David Washington leads the league in RBI with 50, and would be the Spikes' first-ever RBI champion...Washington's team record 10 homers are tied for fourth in the loop...Jimmy Bosco is 6th in the league with a .300 average entering tonight's game...Bosco's six triples are tied for second in the NYPL...The Spikes lead the league in batting average (.275), runs scored (350), least runs allowed (252), and ERA (2.74)...Ramos is the NYPL's hit leader with 86 on the season...2013 Pirates first-round draft choice Austin Meadows has produced multiple hits in each of the last two games...New Spikes addition Vaughn Bryan was 1-for-3 with a double last night and started in center field approximately a half-hour after joining the club in Jamestown
