State College Spikes News Release
(STATE COLLEGE, PA) - - The Pinckney Division champion State College Spikes, affiliates of the St. Louis Cardinals, tonight learned their opponent for this weekend's semifinal round of the New York-Penn League playoffs will be the division rival Jamestown Jammers (Pittsburgh Pirates). Jamestown defeated the Spikes, 9-4, on Wednesday's final day of the NYPL regular season to earn the league's wild card spot.
By virtue of winning their division title and posting the league's best winning percentage (48-27, .640) during the regular season, the Spikes will have home field advantage in the series and host Games 2 and 3 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Game 2, the first home playoff contest in Spikes history, will be played Saturday evening at 7:35 p.m. If necessary, the Spikes will also host Game 3 on Sunday at 7:05 p.m. Ballpark gates both nights will open at 6 p.m. for the general public.
The full schedule for the series is as follows:
Game 1 (Friday, Sept. 6) - Spikes at Jamestown, Time TBA
Game 2 (Saturday, Sept. 7) - Jamestown at Spikes, 7:35 p.m.
Game 3 (Sunday, Sept. 8) - Jamestown at Spikes, 7:05 p.m.
Because Saturday's home playoff game falls on the same day as a Penn State home football game (12:00 kickoff vs. Eastern Michigan), the Spikes will be announcing special fan parking and traffic information prior to Saturday. Fans should visit "Playoff Central" at State College Spikes.com for updated parking and traffic information for Saturday's game.
The winner of the Jamestown/State College series will face the winner of the league's other semifinal series between the McNamara Division champion Aberdeen IronBirds (Baltimore Orioles) and the Stedler Division champion Tri-City Valley Cats (Houston Astros). If the Spikes advance to the Best-of-Three NYPL Championship Series, the club will host Games 2 and 3 at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park next Tuesday/Wednesday or Wednesday/Thursday.
Four-Game Playoff Packs and Single-Game tickets for as many as four potential Spikes home playoff games are now on sale at State College Spikes.com and through the Spikes Box Office at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The Spikes Box Office is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on home gamedays from 9 a.m. through the end of the game. Fans can visit the Spikes Box Office in person or call (814) 272-1711 or toll-free (877) 99-SPIKES.

Individual playoff game tickets are available for Game 2 of the NYPL Semifinal Series on Saturday, a potential Game 3 on Sunday, as well as individual NYPL Championship Series games. Championship Series game tickets will be for Games C and D until dates and times are known. Single-game playoff ticket prices will be the same as regular season prices.
