-SPIKES AND SCRAPPERS FINISH SET: The State College Spikes face the Mahoning Valley Scrappers tonight at Eastwood Field in the final game of a three-game series. State College and Mahoning Valley will be well acquainted with one another, as the two teams meet for six straight contests this week, three in Ohio and three in Pennsylvania. The Spikes are 24-28 all-time against the Scrappers, with a 10-17 mark all-time at Eastwood Field.
-LAST GAME: The State College Spikes got a strong start from Nick Kingham and held a one-run lead going into the eighth inning on Sunday Night at Eastwood Field., but the Mahoning Valley Scrappers came back and took the win, 2-1, on a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning. Kingham, the Pirates' fourth-round draft pick, held Mahoning Valley off the board in five innings of work. The right-hander gave up four hits and four walks, but also struck out four Scrappers batters in his second straight five-inning outing. Matt Skirving scored the Spikes' only run and delivered two doubles to the State College offensive cause.
-WEIDMAN DRAWS FIRST SPIKES START: Right-hander Bryce Weidman gets his first start with State College tonight. Weidman is making his third appearance of the year, and has factored in the decision in both of his relief outings. Last time out, Weidman took the loss at Jamestown after giving up two runs, one earned, over two innings of relief work Friday.
-SCRAPPERS TO START GUERRERO: Left-hander Harold Guerrero gets the ball for Mahoning Valley tonight. Guerrero makes his third start of the year for the Scrappers after going 2-2 with a 4.21 ERA last year for the Arizona League Indians. The Dominican southpaw started his career with the Indians' affiliate in his homeland, posting a 2.60 ERA in 2009.
-SINGH BACK WITH SPIKES: Indian southpaw Rinku Singh returned to the Spikes Monday after being promoted from the GCL. Singh made one appearance for the club in 2010.
