-SPIKES WELCOME CYCLONES TO CENTRAL PA: The State College Spikes start the back part of a five-game homestand as they face the Brooklyn Cyclones to begin a three-game series tonight at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Brooklyn is led by manager Rich Donnelly and pitching coach Frank Viola, both familiar faces in the baseball world. Brooklyn leads the all-time series between the two teams, 11-4, and has taken 5 of 6 meetings in State College.

-LAST GAME: Wes Freeman became the sixth State College Spikes to smash two home runs in a single game with a pair of solo bombs, but the Spikes fell to the Mahoning Valley Scrappers, 10-3, on Friday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. Freeman became the sixth Spikes player in as many years to have a pair of homers in the same game, joining Matt Curry, Kyle Morgan, Andy Vasquez, Justin Byler and Mark Hamilton. The slugging right fielder sent his first long ball over the left-center field wall in the fifth, then followed with another solo shot that traveled far over the left field wall to lead off the ninth.

-HAFNER GETS THE BALL FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Ryan Hafner makes his sixth start and seventh overall appearance tonight for State College. In his last outing, Hafner came on in relief and finished the game with five innings of two-run ball. The Lee's Summit, MO native allowed just three hits, a walk and a hit batsman, but took the tough-luck loss. It was his second outing of at least five innings this year.

-CAMARENA TAKES HILL FOR CYCYLONES: Marcos Camarena, a 21-year-old native of Sinaloa, Mexico, gets the start for Brooklyn tonight. The right-hander has taken the loss in each of his previous three starts, including a five-inning outing against Lowell last time out in which he allowed eight runs and three home run. Camarena went 3-3 with a 2.68 ERA in the Gulf Coast League last year, and 7-2 with a 1.74 in the Dominican Summer League in '09.
