Jamestown Jammers News Release
BURLINGTON, Vt. - Another late rally by an opponent has knocked the Jamestown
Jammers out of ï¬Ârst place for the second time this week.
The Vermont Lake Monsters scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to nip
the Jamestown Jammers, 3-2, Saturday night at Centennial Field. The loss drops the Jammers (20-16) a game behind Mahoning Valley for ï¬Ârst place in the Pinckney Division standings.
Eddie Rodriguez guided the Jamestown offense with two singles and two RBI, while Josh
Adams and Kentrell Dewitt each added two hits and scored a run.
Neither team would score until the bottom of the ï¬Âfth inning as both pitchers kept the
opposition off balance. Kurt Wunderlich shut the Jammers out over four innings and allowed just three hits with four strikeouts, while Josh Hodges matched him by giving up three hits with two strikeouts in six innings.
However, Hodges did have one blemish on the evening when he gave up a solo home run
to Chris Afï¬Ânito with one out in the ï¬Âfth to get the Lake Monsters on the board.
Jamestown would respond with two runs in the top half of the sixth. Dewitt and Adams
had consecutive singles to start the inning before Jobduan Morales reached on his sacriï¬Âce bunt attempt when reliever Jeiler Castillo bobbled the ball to load up the bases. Following a pop out, Rodriguez ripped a single back up the middle to plate both runners and give Jamestown the lead.
It would be a short lived advantage as Vermont scored a pair of runs in the seventh
inning. Four straight batters would reach with two outs as Sam Roberts and Sean Jamieson both singled to tie the game before back-to-back walks forced in the winning run.
Marquise Cooper walked with two outs in the ninth inning, but the Jammers could not get
any closer as Tanner Peters slammed the door to earn his sixth save of the season.
Castillo earned the win for the Lake Monsters after striking out three in three innings,
while Blake Brewer took the loss after giving up two runs in an inning.
Jamieson had three hits for Vermont, and Afï¬Ânito had a solo homer.
The Jammers and Lake Monsters will be back in action Sunday at 1:05 p.m. in Vermont.
