
Muckdogs beat up IronBirds, 11-4

Aberdeen, MD - On a hot, humid and sticky night at Ripken Stadium, the Batavia Muckdogs used three home runs to beat the Aberdeen IronBirds, 11-4.
The Muckdogs scored the first nine runs of the game, racing out to a 9-0 lead after just three and a half innings. Virgil Hill and Romulo Ruiz each had three run home runs in the Muckdog outburst.
The IronBirds got on the board in the bottom of the fourth. Connor Narron and Austin Goolsby had one out back-to-back doubles. Then Dudley Leonora hit an RBI single, scoring Goolsby, making it 9-2 in favor of Batavia.
Roberto Reyes hit a leadoff home run in the fifth, stretching the Muckdog lead to 10-2.
Aberdeen scored their final two runs of the game in the bottom of the seventh. Kyle Hoppy led off with a single and advanced to third on Glynn Davis' double. Sammie Starr then hit a double of his own, scoring both Hoppy and Davis.
Batavia added one more in the top of the eighth after Ruiz scored on an RBI double by Jeremy Patton, making the final score 11-4.
Brandon Erbe got the start for the IronBirds, trying to rehab his shoulder. He pitched one inning, as expected, and took the loss. In his inning, he allowed five hits, four runs (all earned), and struck out one.
Todd McInnis got the win for the Muckdogs, improving to 3-1 on the year. He pitched five innings, allowed six hits, two runs (both earned), walking one and striking out two.
The same two teams will do battle again tomorrow at Ripken Stadium, starting at 5:35 p.m. Jake Cowan (0-4, 4.46) will start for Aberdeen, while Batavia will send Hector Hernandez (0-1, 1.80) to the hill.
