-SPIKES START SIX-GAME HOMESTAND AGAINST JAMMERS: The State College Spikes face the Jamestown Jammers tonight as part of a six-game homestand in the second game of a three-game set. The Spikes are playing 10 of their final 13 games of the New York-Penn League season at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, with three road games against the Jammers in the mix as well. State College is 2-3 against Jamestown this year, and 28-37 against the Jammers all-time.

-LAST GAME: Luis Heredia delivered five one-run innings on the mound for the Spikes on Friday night, but that one run proved to be the difference as the Spikes were held to three hits in a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Jamestown Jammers in the shortest nine-inning professional game ever played at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The Spikes were held to three hits as a team in the 1 hour, 49 minute contest. D.J. Crumlich had two of those hits for State College.

-HOLMES BACK HOME FOR SPIKES TONIGHT: Right-hander Clay Holmes gets the ball tonight for his 12th start of the year. The 19-year-old native of Slocomb, AL is still among the New York-Penn League leaders in earned run average (2.19) and opponents' batting average (.164). Last time out, Holmes took the loss against Williamsport after yielding five runs in 4 2/3 innings. The 2011 ninth-round draft pick of the Pirates has not started at home since his August 1 outing vs. Hudson Valley.

-JAMMERS TAP STECKENRIDER FOR RETURN START: Right-hander Drew Steckenrider, who faced the Spikes ten days ago at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, is slated to start for the Jammers tonight. Steckenrider struck out eight over four innings, but allowed two runs on three hits and two walks over four innings in a no-decision. Last time out, the 2012 eighth-round draft choice of the Marlins tossed five shutout frames for the win at Mahoning Valley, striking out six and walking four.

-McPHERSON BECOMES 15TH SPIKE TO REACH MAJORS: Former Spikes pitcher Kyle McPherson, who was with the club from 2007-09, earned promotion to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday night and became the 15th Spike to become a Major Leaguer when he tossed two scoreless innings against the San Diego Padres. McPherson was the Spikes' Pitcher of the Year in 2009. The Creola, AL native was returned to Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday.

-SPIKE MARKS: Tyler Gaffney's five triples are tied for second in the NYPL...Tom Harlan's six losses are tied for second in the league...Samuel Gonzalez leads the NYPL with 5 sacrifice flies...State College pitchers have allowed just 16 home runs, least in the NYPL...RHP John Kuchno, the 18th-round draft choice of the Pirates this year, will soon make his pro debut after coming off the DL
