
Lowell Takes Game Two

LOWELL, MA-The Lowell Spinners (32-33) jumped out to a 4-0 lead, fought back from a two-run eighth inning from the Connecticut Tigers (28-36) and scored two runs in the eighth inning to earn a 6-2 win on Saturday night at LeLacheur Park.
The Tigers received four innings from RHP Tim Kelley (0-3), who took the loss on Saturday.
The Spinners scored a run in the first inning against Connecticut RHP Tim Kelley (0-3). CF Matty Johnson (0-3) walked, stole second base and went to third base on a fly out by SS Mike Miller (0-4). He scored on a single by DH Deven Marrero (2-3) for a 1-0 lead.
Lowell tacked on three runs in the sixth inning, keyed by a two-run home run from RF Matt Marquis (2-4) to increase the lead to 4-0.
The Tigers broke through on the scoreboard with two runs in the eighth inning. DH Jordan Dean (0-4) reached base on an error and scored on a triple by 3B Edgar Corcino (1-3). CF Jake Stewart (0-3) lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to score Corcino and cut the lead to 4-2.
The Spinners scored two runs in the eighth inning to earn a 6-2 win.
TIGER TRACKS: The Tigers placed LHP Jack Duffey on the Disabled List before the game and received IF Carlos De Los Santos from Low A West Michigan. De Los Santos started the season with Connecticut and was sent to the GCL Tigers in early July.
The Tigers and Spinners finish their series on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. RHP Edgar De La Rosa (4-4, 3.49) gets the start for the Tigers against RHP Pat Light (0-2, 3.38) for the Spinners. Pre-game radio coverage starts at 4:50 p.m. on AM 1310 WICH and online at cttigers.com.
The Connecticut Tigers are the Class-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play in the New York-Penn League.
