-SPIKES COMPLETE HOMESTAND VS. SCRAPPERS: The State College Spikes finish up a three-game series against the Mahoning Valley Scrappers and a six-game homestand at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park tonight. Mahoning Valley leads the all-time series, 24-22, but the Spikes lead the all-time series at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park, 14-10.

-LAST GAME: Tyler Waldron, Jhonathan Ramos, Justin Ennis and Jason Townsend combined for the Spikes' sixth shutout victory of the season, and Pat Irvine helped the cause with his first Spikes homer of the year in a 4-0 win over the Mahoning Valley Scrappers on Sunday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. The quartet of State College pitchers held Mahoning Valley to just three hits in the whitewash.

-VON ROSENBERG STARTS FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Zack Von Rosenberg gets the ball for the Spikes tonight. Von Rosenberg has yielded just a 1.69 ERA in the month of August, and held Jamestown to just one run on four hits over five innings in a no-decision last time out. The Pirates' 2009 sixth-round draft pick also has a 1.08 ERA in his last five starts.

-SCRAPPERS FINISH WITH GAYNOR: Before going back home to face the Spikes in a three-game set starting Tuesday, Mahoning Valley will send right-hander Casey Gaynor to the mound for his fourth start and 14th overall appearance. Gaynor has not faced State College this season, and has gone 2-1 with a 2.22 ERA away from home in 2010.

-WALDRON FIRING BLANKS FOR SPIKES: Tyler Waldron stretched his streak of no-hit innings to eight last night before allowing a single to Carlos Moncrief in the third inning. Waldron has also thrown 11 straight shutout frames over his last three starts.

-CURRY STILL SPICING UP OFFENSE: Matt Curry is second in the New York-Penn League with a .415 on-base percentage, and his five home runs are tied for the team lead.
